For over 120 years, Lister Horsfall has been part of West Yorkshire’s story. It all began in 1902, when Lister Horsfall opened “The Little Diamond Shop” in Halifax’s Corn Market. His first customer was his own father, arriving by horse and carriage, a moment that set the tone for generations of family, trust, and craftsmanship.
From those early days, each generation has brought its own passion and skill. Lister laid the foundations of quality and service. His son Walter steered the business through wartime and beyond, earning a reputation for precision and care. Richard, Walter’s son, became the world’s youngest qualified gemmologist at just 20, and introduced world-class brands like Rolex, Omega and Breitling to our customers, expanding to Ilkley in 1976. Today, fourth-generation Nick Horsfall continues that legacy, blending tradition with innovation to keep Lister Horsfall at the forefront of fine jewellery and watchmaking.
Lister Horsfall was more than a jeweller, he was a visionary with a deep appreciation for precision and beauty. Born into a family of architects, inventors, and horologists, he carried that legacy into the world of fine jewellery, opening his first store in Halifax in 1902. His commitment to quality, integrity, and personal service laid the foundation for a brand that continues to thrive more than a century later.
Under Nick’s leadership, Lister Horsfall is looking firmly to the future. Our expanded and refurbished Halifax showroom now houses cutting-edge watch servicing facilities, while our Ilkley showroom offers a bright, welcoming space for jewellery, Swiss watches, and bespoke creations. We remain proudly independent and family-run, committed to delivering exceptional service, lasting relationships, and beautiful pieces that become part of your story.
